Available for the ‘23-‘24 Ski Season, the Cole House is a comfortable three bedroom house on a private pond. The house sits on a quiet dead-end dirt road with a brook on the back side of the property. From the house, it is a quick drive or a bike ride down to Pikes Falls or a short drive (7 minutes) up to the Stratton Ski Resort. Manchester, a lovely Vermont town with lots of New England charm is just twenty minutes away.
The Cole House is half of a rambling two-family dwelling. The other half has its own entrance and driveway and is used by the owners when they are around. It is not rented out. During the summer months, when the owners are around, they stay up the road in another house.
Layout:
Downstairs, there is one bedroom with a queen bed and a split bath. There is a toilet and a sink in one room and a new clawfoot tub with a shower and sink in another room. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, one with two double beds and the other with one double bed. There is also a bath with a shower upstairs. Linens and towels are provided.
The rustic living room has a brick fireplace with a propane fueled fireplace insert and hand-hewn beams and looks out on the pond and Stratton Mountain. There is also a modern kitchen, and a laundry room with a washer and dryer. Other amenities include, a dishwasher, microwave, DVD Player, cable TV, and wireless high speed Internet. This is a year-round well-insulated house.
Note for summer guests: The Cole House does not have air conditioning, but is rather like an old fashioned summer place with fans, but no air conditioning, either local (window units) or whole house. The evenings in Vermont tend to drop down into the fifties or low 60s during the summer in the mountains.
Pond:
The private pond is three quarters of an acre in size, has a gravel base and is nine feet deep in the middle. In the summer, the grassy shore provides easy access for swimming and there is a row boat you can use. A screened gazebo sits on the far shore. It is great for skating in the winter.
A outdoor propane grill and a large round picnic table are provided for warmer weather outdoor dining.
The Stratton Resort is 1.5 miles away, which means that you are only seven minutes from the base lodge. Directions: go down to the bottom of the lane, take a right, 500 feet later, take another right up Brazier's Way, the back end of the Stratton resort's access road, and five minutes later you are there.
During the winter, you can easily come home for lunch or run your kids up to the ski area in the morning and then come back home to do other activities such as snow shoeing or cross country skiing on the surrounding land or you can just sit back and enjoy the solitude.
Most dogs & children of all ages are welcome, though the house is NOT child-proofed.
