Circe and Hare Lodge, a Rustic, Refined Log Cabin in the Nek

Welcome to Circe & Hare Lodge. One step inside & you'll realize you've arrived at the perfect place to relax & unwind. Located in Vermont's beautiful Northeast Kingdom, our rustic but refined log cabin is built on a hillside, featuring an inviting cedar deck which overlooks the Lamoille River, woods & distant mountains. Our 4-season cabin is equipped with everything you need for a peaceful, care-free getaway. Escape the hustle & bustle, clear your mind & enjoy all that this area has to offer.

Inside this traditional log cabin, you'll find modern conveniences with rustic charm. This cabin, however, is unlike most vacation rentals which feel sterile & are sparsely decorated. We’ve put great effort into creating an over-the-top guest experience...fine, expensive bedding/blankets & throws, a fully-stocked kitchen with chef-approved brands & gadgets, furnished with plush, cozy couches & chairs, & decorated with real art & antiques.

A tall stone fireplace is set within the middle of the living room, towering along the wooden stairs to the second floor. The living room/reading area both enjoy views of the fireplace. The house boasts an open, cozy floor plan. The kitchen/eating area opens out to the natural deck overlooking the hillside/river & distant views of mountain tops. Bathroom hosts updated washer/dryer facilities & heated tile floor & is located on the first floor.

The second floor features 3 bedrooms. Open the sliding barn doors at the top of the stairs into the romantic master bedroom, with antique factory glass windows overlooking the downstairs & fireplace. A big, luxurious bed offers views through the door onto a balcony overlooking the yard/distant mountains. There is nothing quite like a Vermont starry night sky viewed from your bedroom balcony! A large walk-in closet is found at the top of the stairs - additional linens & blankets are found here, as well as plenty of storage space for luggage & hanging clothing.

The two other cozy bedrooms are located on the other side of the hall, one featuring raw-edge wooden headboard & antique dresser for storage, and the other, with log-cabin siding, rocking chair & closet.

Guests have access to the entire home, porches that wrap around most of the house, and a large yard with fire pit. The property has 5 acres, much of it wooded, but there is a mowed path which leads to the Lamoille River at the base of the property. Dogs seem to love swimming in the river & exploring it's edges.

In winter, guests may snowshoe or ski around the property, as there are paths through the wooded areas. There is a horseshoe game set up in the lawn & guests may bring their own lawn games during warm weather.

Guests may use the firepit with permission during times of low-fire risk. Our neighbor, Little Creek Canoe & Kayak, makes beautiful handmade vessels, which you can rent & take to many of the nearby lakes.

Our cabin is just 2 miles from Hill Farmstead Brewery, voted Best Brewery in the World many years running - a local must-visit! Use our bicycles (or bring your own) for a lovely ride on country roads (with stunning mountain views) to the brewery.

We are surrounded by forest, river and peace & quiet! Ten minutes away is the quaint town of Greensboro, where Willey's General Store is located - also a must-see, as it has everything you could imagine. Greensboro is filled with artists & craftspeople, as well as a beautiful art gallery.

Seasonal outdoor activities in the area are endless. We are 20 minutes from Craftsbury Outdoor Center (hundreds of miles of cross-country skiing & sculling), 10 minutes from Caspian Lake, 45 minutes from Stowe/Burke Mountain & Jay Peak & endless hiking nearby. Fall-foliage season is unbelievably gorgeous, especially when viewed from high within the mountains (Elmore State Park is one we highly recommend).
