Lake St. Catherine is an 883-acre lake located in the towns of Wells and Poultney, surrounded by towns with rolling farmland. The lakeshore includes Lake St. Catherine State Park, with beaches for swimming and rental boats for fishing or relaxing.
Poultney has shops, a bookstore, and places to eat, and is the home of Green Mountain College. East Poultney features a classic New England green and a general store. For the golfers, Lake St Catherine Country Club is nearby and is open to the public.
Middletown Springs and Wells are smaller, rural towns, as is Tinmouth, home to 79-acre Chipman Lake (also known as Tinmouth Pond).
From this region it is an easy drive to the bigger towns of Manchester and Rutland. Amtrak has a train that travels from New York City to Rutland, and airports in Albany, NY and Burlington serve the area.
