Help for Renters

This website is designed to provide you with an easy-to-use resource for finding a vacation rental in Vermont. Once you find a rental to your liking, contact the owner or agent directly using the contact information provided in the rental listing.

There are multiple ways to find rental properties on this site:

1) From our home page, you can click on the portion of the map corresponding to the region of Vermont where you would like to vacation, or you can click on one of the region names listed next to the map. In either case, you will be brought to a page showing all ads located in or near that region. At top of each Region page use “Learn more about this region” links about recreational and cultural opportunities in that region.

On any regional page, and other pages described below, the properties are arranged by the number of bedrooms, with the single-bedroom and studio properties listed first. Most of the properties are being offered for rent by the owner, though a few may be listed by a rental agency. At the bottom of many regional pages are ads from rental agencies that serve that region.

Once you see a rental property that you would like to find out more about, click on the small photo or on the short description of the property. This will take you to the property’s ad page with many more details about the property, including contact information.

Some ads include a link to an availability calendar where you can see what time periods are open or have already been booked, or include a link to another site with more information about the property.

Most ads have a link to a form that allows you to e-mail the owner or agent, and all ads have a link that allows you to e-mail a friend to refer them to a particular ad on this site.

2) We also have several pages that allow you to browse the rental listings by various categories. These pages allow you to browse by towns, lakes, ski resorts, and regions.

As with the regional pages, on these pages you can scan short descriptions and a photo and then click on the properties to see more information.

3) You can use our simple search field on the home page and at the top of all other pages, or the advanced search page, to search the site for properties that meet the criteria you select. Advanced search allows you to set your requirements by sleeping capacity, location, features, listing number, or keywords. Searching for the keyword “sauna”, for example, will find all ads that include the word “sauna.”

4) Please note that, if you prefer to work with a rental agency or book with a resort, we also have two pages featuring just rental agencies and resorts. One page includes rental agencies and resorts in southern Vermont (including the counties of Bennington, Rutland, Windham, and Windsor), and the other includes northern Vermont rental agencies and resorts.

Rental agencies and resorts generally handle multiple rentals, for which they may receive a commission. Agencies can be helpful if you are having trouble locating what you want, are booking at the last minute, or if you feel more comfortable working with someone who is familiar with various properties in the area and who can help you locate and enjoy a rental that matches your needs.

Before continuing, you should also be aware of the contents of our Disclaimer page. And for more information about finding a rental and making rental arrangements with the owner or agent, see our Tips for Renters page.

Help for Rental Property Owners

The rental ads on this site have been placed here by rental owners, rental agents, and property managers, all of whom paid a fee to us to list their properties. VermontProperty.com takes no commission on any rentals generated by these ads.
