A large rustic summer cottage nicely located on the west shore of the "big pond" at Joe’s. Guests waken to brilliant sunrises, enjoy glistening sunset reflections on the water, and experience 180’ panoramic lake views from the 10’ x 30’ screened porch or from built-in benches on the 20’ x 20’ deck. A gas furnace and a Franklin wood stove provide heat for crisp mornings and cozy evenings. Roadside parking for three vehicles is available directly in front of the cottage.
The 100’ shoreline is just right for fishing, swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing in the evening by the fire pit at the water’s edge. Our 11-acres of undeveloped woods across the road, bounded by the historic Bailey-Hazen Road, invite casual exploration.
The cottage is furnished with basic kitchen appliances, cooking and eating utensils, toaster, coffee maker, a microwave oven, telephone and a TV/DVD (Please bring your own favorite movies!). Hot and cold running water in cottage is available for showers, washing dishes, etc. Spring water for drinking and cooking is easily accessible at the pump a short distance up the road – Only the spring water is drinkable. Upstairs, there is a bathroom with shower; three twins, one double, and one queen bed in the three bedrooms. We provide blankets, bedspreads, and pillows; bring your own sheets, pillowcases, and towels. We also provide a charcoal grill and a rowboat. Guests can rent kayaks, canoes, and pontoon boats at nearby Point Comfort.
In addition to fishing, swimming, sunbathing and boating while at Joe’s Pond, activities and opportunities in the immediate local area include golf, biking and hiking (Lamoille Valley Rail Trail bike path and Kingdom Trails), museums, antiques/crafts, dining, and microbreweries. Mountain recreation abounds at Burke Mountain, Stowe, Jay Peak, Franconia Notch (Cannon Mountain) and Mount Washington. The location near I-91 and I-93 intersection in St. Johnsbury affords easy access to all of Vermont and New Hampshire, the Maine Coast, Boston, Montreal and Quebec City.
February 4, 2019 - Days are getting longer and folks are considering their Ice-Out guesses and thinking summer vacation on the pond. We still have a July week, a couple of June and August weeks, and all of September available at our 3-bedroom Joe’s Pond cottage. Also, we still have great choices at six Shadow Lake cottages. Please contact me now to reserve your week. Thanks, Nate
