Skiing and hiking are very close: 1/2 mile to Mount Ascutney ski resort, and 1/8 mile to the Mount Ascutney State Park trail head, where you can hike Mt. Ascutney to 3100 ft. elevation. Or you can paddle the Connecticut River 5 minutes away. Woodstock, VT is 15 minutes away, and between Woodstock, South Woodstock, Reading, and Brownsville are miles of rolling farms, wild woods, backroads, and horse country. Centrally located for day trips to other beautiful towns -- it is less than an hour down to Brattleboro or up to Montpelier, 30 minutes to Mt. Okemo, 60 minutes to Killington, 25 minutes to Dartmouth/Hanover NH, 3 hours to Boston, 4 hours to Manhattan.
