Sunny south-facing, mountain side '60s ski chalet, with views of central Green Mountains and top of Killington. It is on a dirt road one mile above quaint town of Pittsfield, which is 15 minutes north of Killington on Route 100. This peaceful chalet set in woods features a large stone fireplace, common room, rustic farm table, 6 person outdoor hot tub, ski and farm historical decor and high-speed internet/wifi. Golf, ski, mountain bike, walk and snowshoe all nearby.
It has a large sunny deck, a 6 person outdoor hot tub. It is a great get away location for families and couples. The living room features a fieldstone fireplace flanked by two couches. The adjacent entertainment section of the living features an L-shaped overstuffed sectional pull out (queen sized) sofa. The entertainment center has a smart TV connected to 20 mbs fiber optic internet. Bedrooms include two on the main floor - one with a queen sized bed and the other a single bed. Downstairs is the master bedroom with a king sized bed and the four bed bunk room. Both the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms have stall showers. The kitchen is fully equipped.
Out the front door there is a small stream, open fields with views and quiet dirt roads for exploration. The hot tub is reached across a short bridge and resides on a platform deck nestled in the trees. A swinging love seat chair overlooks gardens.
Nearby Riverside Farm and the Amee Farm retreat center. Local great breakfast site Swiss Farm Lodge. Local sports and adventures abound. Award winning nightlife options up at Killington.
We love the fact that it is warm in the winter, has great views, lets the kids have fun playing in the stream, sledding or hot tubbing while parents relax on the deck or on the love seat swing.
Our family first came to VT in 1958, when it was so novel to have folks from down country purchasing local property, that our purchase of a small farm house on Rt 100, just south of the center of Pittsfield made news in the Rutland Hearld.
We built this house (Robert Williams was our architect) in 1965 where two sons were raised. The family was a long time member of the Killington Ski Club, with both children competing as either ski racers or freestylers as part of the Killington team in the '60s and '70s.
Both children went on to Middlebury where they raced competitively and now some of the grandchildren are having ski racing success as well.
Winter season is from the weekend before Thanksgiving to the end of the second week in April each year. We choose these dates as they coincide with the dates when Killington and Pico are generally open and worth it. We require a minimum two night stay so that it is worth it for us for cleaning and all. If you rent mid week, the rates are $300 per night. If you want a weekend night (Friday and Saturday) we charge $450 per night and the state of VT makes us pay 9% rooms and meals tax, so don't be surprised to see that added to the rates when they are calculated out.
We require a $200 security deposit separately. Payment of one day's rental will confirm your whole reservation. Our cancellation policy is generous and will be sent to you when you communicate with us.
