Beautiful Yr. Round Lake Front Cottage on Coles Pond, Walden
The cottage is available for all-season rental. Enjoy swimming, boating, biking & hiking in the summer, foliage & hiking in the fall, x-country skiing & snow shoeing in the winter or writing & meditation retreats anytime.
Built in 2002 the cottage has an open living/kitchen/dining space, a well equipped kitchen, a bathroom w/shwr & an enclosed bedroom downstairs. Upstairs is an open loft with additional beds/futons on either side of a stairwell half wall. The camp is winterized & heated by a woodstove & radiant floor backup heat (no drafts & toasty toes!) & has DSL (modem can be removed for a real escape).
We have 150’ lake frontage with great swimming, kayaking & canoeing & modest fishing (small species – perch, bass, pickerel etc.). Loons nest on a protected northwestern section of the pond (2/3 of pond is a wildlife mgmt. area) & swim by the camp, with beavers, ducks & snow geese making frequent appearances as well.
8 mi. to Caspian Lake (or Hardwick for fine dining), 17 mi. to Craftsbury Outdoor Center with fabulous nordic skiing in the winter, mtn. bike riding & sculling in the summer. The Kingdom Trails for mtn. bike riding and nordic skiing are 24 miles to the east in East Burke, VT & downhill skiing at Stowe, Burke & Jay Peak are all within 45 min - 1 hr. away.
